La Torronada 2023

We invite you to celebrate La Torronada with the Casal! It`s the last event of the year, and as usual, we are waiting for you all to eat torrons, bring your kids to our children activities, participate in the raffle of the Christmas basket, and see the children`s excitement by making the Uncle poop (Caga Tiò).

All this, accompanied by a pot-luck lunch! The Casal will put food, drinks and torrons (of course!), but we appreciate it if you can collaborate and surprise us with your recipes.

The Christmas gathering will be held next Sunday, December 10 at the Kitsilano Community Center (Multipurpose room) between 1pm and 4pm.

This activity is only free for Casal members. To help us cover the expenses of rent and food, we propose a donation of $15 per non-member adults, $5 for non-member children, and $10 for non-member retirees and students.

If you are not yet a member of Casal, we encourage you to become a member in advance and enjoy this traditional free meeting.

You can send us your membership in advance by e-transfer to quotes [@] casalcatala.ca or in cash on the day of the meeting.

And finally, we encourage you to participate in the Christmas basket raffle. Each participation will have one cost of $5. Good luck to everyone!

We look forward to see you!

Celebrate Saint Georges Day - The Catalan one, not the English one!

Dear Friend,

Come to celebrate with us Sain Georges day, the patron saint of Catalonia that also doubles as the Catalan equivalent of Saint Valentine`s day. Lovers exchange books and roses. Any other exchange is private.

We will be at the Granville Island Picnic Pavilion (https://maps.app.goo.gl/9YMzDx4zRLP9xXq66) next Sunday April 21 between 11:30am and 2:30pm.

Bring a book wrapped in dark paper so you can exchange it at the mistery book exchange, bring your kids (and/or your sweer tooth) for the sweet (and edible) roses workshop, and some spare cash to buy a rose to your sweetheart (and the satisfaction of supporting the Casal activities!).

If you can, please bring some nibbles to share for the pot luck. The Casal will bring (soft) drinks for everybody.

We look forward to see you!
